Our belief in people and what they can achieve. The Independent Living Relief Scheme Officer role at Orbit. 6 month contract available - covering schemes across Midlands. We are looking to fill a role within our Independent Living team in the Midlands. Working as relief cover, you will support colleagues across the schemes for short and / or long-term absences. This will involve working at schemes predominantly across Coventry, Warwickshire area, so own transport will be vital. Occasionally you will be asked to cover schemes in Northamptonshire as the Midlands team work together. This will require picking up key aspects of roles at short notice within sheltered and Extra care schemes. You will cover compliance checks, support customers, deal with any issues that come in. This will be a varied role and will involve working at pace. Flexibility will be key to support the Management team to provide solid service to support customers in their homes. What will help the Independent Living Relief Scheme Officer make a difference. * Listens and develops a clear understanding of situations/issues/queries, to resolve matters. * Able to explain detailed information to others to ensure a clear understanding. * Flexibility to be able to provide relief cover at schemes across a region. Own transport essential. * Effectively handles disagreements and resolves conflicts in a positive and constructive manner * Effective problem solving and negotiating skills * Good understanding and / or housing experience. * Excellent standard of reading, writing and numeracy. * Competent user of ICT, with the ability to send emails, compose and print letters, complete online forms and be able to use in-house IT packages such as Microsoft word, outlook and excel. * Knowledge and/or experience of the issues faced by older people or vulnerable groups. * Acts professionally in situations which may arouse strong reactions in self or others. * Experience of working with vulnerable customers and providing support. * Is self reliant and able to judge when it is appropriate to draw on support. * Able to have a customer perspective and respond effectively to their needs and expectations.
