Music Teacher We are looking for an inspiring, talented, and enthusiastic music teacher to join our department from January 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a successful and thriving music department with outstanding facilities and school-wide support. The position will be based in the Prep School and the candidate will be required to teach classroom music from Year 1 to Year 8 (with additional Early Years teaching from September 2026). The post holder will need to have strong keyboard skills with the ability to accompany the choirs, and play for concerts and examinations. The role is primarily to teach a broad and balanced curriculum which aims to inspire and improve musical skills and build confidence both in and out of the classroom. Working closely with the Head of Prep Music, they will lead rehearsals, accompany choirs and soloists (where possible), and participate in large-scale performances throughout the year. Music is integral to the soul and spirit of the school. With weekly congregational singing and whole-school musical events, the performing arts are at the heart of school life. We run five school choirs, Symphony Orchestra, Contemporary Bands, and numerous chamber music groups. Alongside concerts in the Prep School, we regularly join forces with Cranleigh Senior School for large-scale choral, orchestral and theatre performances. With nearly 40 visiting music teachers, we run a large programme of individual music lessons. Pupils perform in Informal Concerts throughout the year and are entered for ABRSM and Trinity exams. The post will equate to 0.5 FTE. However, with an expanding Pre-Prep department there could be scope to increase this in the future. There is the possibility to supplement the part-time contract with additional work as a visiting teacher, depending on individual skills. In this case, the post holder would teach an agreed allocation of one-to-one lessons. These could include instrumental, vocal or theory lessons where appropriate and will be treated as additional self-employed work. We offer a supportive community environment with a competitive remuneration and benefits package. Candidates are requested to apply via our recruitment portal and submit a brief letter of application, together with the online application and supported by a full CV as soon as possible and no later than 9:00 am on Tuesday 16th December 2025. Applications are considered as they are received and therefore the vacancy may close sooner than advertised Cranleigh School recognises the positive value of diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination. We welcome and encourage job applications from people of all backgrounds. All applicants must have the right to work in the UK. The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The post holder will be subject to a DBS check. Music Teacher - Apply now
