The Role
As an Assistant Finance Business Partner, you will play a vital role in supporting the Finance Business Partners across both the Fresh and Prepared business units. Your work will underpin the financial performance tracking, budgeting, and cost analysis required to inform decision-making at both operational and senior management levels. This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and offers the opportunity to contribute to key business processes such as weekly reporting, costings, budgeting, and customer tenders. What will you be doing?
Weekly Financial Reporting:
Complete weekly financial performance reporting for Group review.
Produce weekly figures for all relevant business units: Fresh: Lincoln, Somerset, Scotland
Added Value: Retail, B2B, Mash, Protein
Transport & Supply Chain
Provide timely, accurate data for Finance Business Partner (FBP) review.
Month-End & Year-End Support:
Assist with general ledger postings including accruals and prepayments.
Support stock management processes and reconciliations.
Collaborate with finance and operations teams to ensure smooth period-end closures.
New Product & Existing Product Development (NPD/EPD) Costings:
Work closely with the Prepared FBP and planning teams to review potential new SKUs.
Complete detailed costings for Fresh and Prepared products.
Present costing outcomes to Finance Business Partners for review and approval.
Customer Tenders:
Support Finance Business Partners in the preparation and review of financial information for new customer tenders.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Collaborate with FBPs, Site General Managers, and senior stakeholders to support annual budgeting activities.
Help build and maintain budget models, including SKU-level cost detail.
Provide analytical challenge to ensure robust and accurate budget submissions.
Ad-Hoc Support:
Undertake additional tasks and project work as required by the Finance Business Partners.
What we want from you?
Starting or progressing through a professional financial qualification
Relevant experience is a previous operational accountant role
Strong numerical and communication skills
Proficient in all Microsoft suites including Excel
Ability to thrive in a fast paced setting, with self motivation and ability to prioritise workload according
