Cobb and Jones are recruiting a Financial Controller for a large, international distribution-based business based out of Mid Kent, this is a senior finance position that plays a vital role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance across our UK operations. The successful candidate will lead a team of six, manage audits, drive SOX compliance, oversee balance sheet reconciliations, and support the preparation of consolidated and statutory accounts, reporting to the US under US GAAP.

Profile of the Successful Candidate
You’ll hold an ACA (or equivalent) and have substantial post-qualification experience in financial reporting, UK GAAP, US GAAP and SOX compliance. You’ll have strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Prior experience working within a multinational company is highly valued, as is your ability to juggle multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and foster an environment of accuracy, attention to detail, and proactive collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
1. Oversee monthly financial reporting, consolidation of UK group accounts, intercompany reconciliations, and balance sheet reviews.
2. Ensure adherence to US GAAP and SOX controls, including leading quarterly balance sheet reviews and driving remediation of financial issues.
3. Liaise with external auditors, support the preparation of statutory accounts and budgets, and manage audit queries.
4. Support the implementation of new accounting standards and liaise closely with both UK and US finance teams.
5. Assist the CFO and Senior Finance Manager with acquisitions, divestitures, and other ad hoc projects as required.
