Job Overview The plumber will be responsible for installing, testing, and commissioning all plumbing and water-related systems within a new-build nursery. The role requires high attention to safety, hygiene, and compliance with building regulations, given the childcare environment. Key Responsibilities Install first and second fix plumbing systems in accordance with drawings and specifications Install hot and cold water systems, soil and waste pipes, and rainwater systems Fit sanitaryware suitable for a nursery environment (toilets, basins, sinks, baby-change units, etc.) Install water heaters, pipework insulation, and associated valves and controls Ensure systems meet hygiene, temperature control, and anti-scald requirements (e.g. TMVs) Pressure test and commission plumbing systems Liaise with site managers, other trades, and inspectors to ensure smooth progress Work to project timelines and coordinate work with other building activities Maintain a clean, safe, and child-safe working environment Follow all health & safety procedures, including safeguarding considerations on a nursery site Requirements / Skills NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing & Heating (or equivalent) Proven experience on new-build or commercial projects (education settings preferred) Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and Water Regulations Experience installing TMVs and systems suitable for childcare settings Ability to read and work from technical drawings and specifications Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail Blue JIB card Enhanced DBS check may be required (depending on site stage) Health & Safety Adherence to all site H&S policies Safe storage of tools and materials Awareness of safeguarding and working in an environment designed for children Working Conditions New-build construction site Standard site hours (may vary) PPE required at all times
