Role Overview
Gigawatt Industries Ltd is a leading Independent Connections Provider (ICP) delivering nationwide EV charging infrastructure. We are seeking skilled Groundworkers / Machine Operators to join our civil engineering teams. This role is central to delivering our projects, involving trenching for HV/LV cabling, substation foundations, POC joint holes, ducting, feeder pillar bases, and reinstatement works. You will be working closely with our electrical and ICP teams to deliver projects safely, on time, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate plant machinery for excavation and trenching (NPORS required).
* Excavate and prepare substation foundations and joint bays for DNO/IDNO connections.
* Dig and backfill POC (Point of Connection) joint holes to DNO/ICP requirements.
* Install ducting and drawpits for HV and LV cabling to serve EV chargers and substations.
* Construct and finish concrete bases for chargers, feeder pillars, and substations.
* Reinstate surfaces (tarmac, paving, concrete, and soft ground) to local authority/highway standards.
* Read, interpret, and work accurately from construction and utility drawings.
* Install and align kerbs and edging to precise levels.
* Carry out drainage and utility works associated with EV infrastructure.
* Maintain full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
Minimum Qualifications & Certifications
* CSCS / CPCS / NPORS (plant operator)
* SWQR (Street Works Qualification Register)
* Cat & Genny (Cable Avoidance Tool training)
* Full UK driving licence
Advantageous Qualifications & Experience
* SMSTS or SSSTS (site supervision/management safety training)
* Experience with utility works, drainage, or ICP joint bays
* NRSWA reinstatement knowledge
* Prior experience in EV charging infrastructure projects

* Experienced in groundworks for utilities or ICP projects.
* Knowledge of HV/LV cable trenching, substation bases, ducting, and joint bays.
* Skilled in reinstatement and working to DNO/IDNO specifications.
* Familiar with EV charging or utility infrastructure projects.
* Physically fit, safety-conscious, and capable of manual work.
* Flexible and willing to work nationwide, away from home (accommodation provided).
