Airframe Fitter
Location: Cambridge, CB5 8RX
Contract: 12-month rolling contract (long-term – approx. 3 years of work)
Start Date: From January (later starts available)
Hours: 5-5-4 shift pattern, 07:00–18:00
Weekly Hours: Approx. 40 hours + overtime (up to 50 hours total)
Pay Rate: £27.97 PAYE / £38.48 Umbrella
Morson Edge are recruiting for an experienced Airframe Fitter to support long-term aircraft maintenance and modification programmes based in Cambridge. This is a long-term contract opportunity offering stability, consistent overtime, and the chance to work within a highly regarded aerospace environment.
Reporting to a Technician or Team Leader, the successful candidate will carry out aircraft structural and mechanical maintenance tasks in accordance with approved documentation, ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, and workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out maintenance, modification, and repair activities on aircraft structures and mechanical systems in line with approved work instructions
Ensure compliance with all airworthiness, HSE, and procedural requirements
Work in accordance with tool control, document control, system updates, and certification processes
Accurately record time and complete all required aircraft documentation
Maintain a consistently high standard of workmanship
Remove and install aircraft components, parts, and panels, including work in confined spaces and fuel tanks
Assist with aircraft movement, jacking, and trestling activities
Clean aircraft, components, parts, and tooling to support inspection and maintenance
Carry out repairs to aircraft structures and components as required
Refit or replace defective parts using hand and power tools
Assist with testing aircraft parts using gauges and instruments
Interpret work cards, work orders, technical drawings, blueprints, and manufacturer instructions
Operate cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment safely
Order materials, parts, and equipment when required
Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate maintenance activities
Support continuous improvement initiatives and undertake additional duties as directed

Qualifications & Experience
Completion of a recognised Engineering apprenticeship or an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)
Proven experience carrying out aircraft maintenance on large transport aircraft
Experience in maintenance checks, structural repairs, component maintenance, and flight control rigging
C-130 experience advantageous but not essential
