Pipefitter Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Pipefitter for our client, a well-established mechanical engineering and building services company with a strong reputation in the Building Services Industry. They provide Design, Installation, and Maintenance Services to both public and private sector markets.
The position is based near Billericay until July, after which overtime may be required for school projects and potential overnight stays. The role involves travel within M25 & the home counties, and candidates must be willing to work longer hours and stay away from home as needed.
Responsibilities:
1. Install pipework, brackets, and equipment according to detailed schematic drawings.
2. Ensure all activities comply with current legislation, Health & Safety Policies, Building Regulations, CDM Regulations, Risk Assessments, and Quality Standards.
3. Read and interpret schematic drawings for pipe system planning and installation.
4. Measure, mark, cut, thread, and press pipes accurately.
5. Assemble and secure pipe components using brackets, clamps, and welding equipment.
6. Maintain and repair pipe systems, supports, and related equipment.
7. Perform strength and tightness tests on gas and water pipes according to relevant codes and standards.
8. Use hand tools, mechanical tools, and equipment safely and effectively in various environments.
9. Remove and replace piping systems or components temporarily or permanently as needed.
10. Extensive experience with press-fit systems in copper & stainless steel.
11. Experience with containment & pipe fitting in domestic and commercial heating systems.
12. Experience installing radiators and fan convectors on a commercial scale.
13. Plant room experience is beneficial.
14. Experience working within schools, hospitals, and occupied commercial premises.
