Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is actively seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of 'Safeguarding Project Coordinator.' The role offers an opportunity to become part of a dynamic team passionate about ensuring global safeguarding standards and committed to CHS. This position is based from Birmingham (open to candidates across the UK). The organisation is currently operating to a hybrid working model.
As a Safeguarding Project Coordinator, your primary responsibility will revolve around the development and implementation of safeguarding policies, procedures, and infrastructure. It is essential to align these efforts with global safeguarding standards, demonstrating our commitment to CHS. In addition to this, you will play a crucial role in providing continuous support to both country offices and IR family members, ensuring the seamless integration of safeguarding and PSEAH requirements into all our operations, projects, and programs.
Furthermore, the Safeguarding Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Safeguarding Manager to mainstream the safeguarding strategy, ensuring the fulfilment of safeguarding and PSEAH needs. This role also encompasses a significant emphasis on strengthening preventive measures and actively engaging in case management related to safeguarding cases. Integral to this position is the necessity to build and maintain strong working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
The successful candidate must have or be:
1. Strong familiarity with current sector trends in safeguarding, PSEA, protection mainstreaming, inclusion, and sensitive programming.
2. Experience with safeguarding and protection/inclusion issues in humanitarian settings.
3. Background in training, adult learning, and staff development.
4. Practical knowledge of faith-based approaches in safeguarding, PSEA, protection, and inclusion.
5. Proficiency and experience in safeguarding investigations and case management.
6. Excellent communication and representation abilities.
7. Proficient in writing reports and toolkits in English.
8. Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills.
9. Strong analytical capabilities.
10. Experience in training stakeholders
11. Willingness and capacity to travel abroad (up to 30% of the time).
12. Demonstrates a deep understanding and empathy for Islamic values and principles and a commitment to IRW's vision and mission.
