MERITUS Talent is working with one of the world's leading aerospace & aviation organizations for the recruitment of a Configuration Manager to join their Portsmouth office on a full-time basis. The role requires an on-site presence, and offers £41ph via Umbrella. The successful candidate should hold or be eligible for SC Clearance and possess sole British citizenship.
Overview
This role is within the Configuration and Data Management team and is responsible for ensuring adherence to internal guidelines and industry best practices across Configuration Management processes. You will support Product Lifecycle Management and Configuration Management Database users, working closely with project, product, and service teams. Your duties include overseeing CM activities, guiding stakeholders, contributing to process improvements, and maintaining system compliance in a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Perform CM activities: identification, control, planning, change, status accounting, and audit.
2. Maintain and distribute controlled documentation and data in the CMDB.
3. Generate reports for team leads, project managers, or product/service teams.
4. Act as the CADM focal point for assigned projects, with support from team members.
5. Ensure CMDB/PLM systems are maintained in operational state.
6. Handle document control, quality checks, distribution, and structure creation within the CMDB.
7. Support CADM-related queries from project stakeholders.
8. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the CADM function.
9. Coordinate creation and management of configuration structures such as BOMs and Product Trees.
10. Manage Configuration Control Boards, including initiation, assessment, facilitation, and reporting.
11. Develop and improve CM processes and support system tool enhancements.
12. Create and maintain Configuration and Data Management Plans, and Change Management Plans for projects.
13. Monitor workload and resource allocation for projects.
14. Liaise with customers to meet configuration requirements without impacting cost or schedule.
Essential Skills And Experience
1. Strong knowledge of Configuration Management principles.
2. Experience with PLM/PDM tools.
3. Proficiency in MS Office and data management software.
4. Understanding of the product lifecycle.
5. Experience establishing CM processes on new projects.
6. High digital literacy and attention to detail.
7. Excellent communication skills in English.
8. Eligibility to work with ITAR-controlled data.
Desirable Skills
1. CMII or equivalent certification.
2. Experience liaising with customer stakeholders.
3. Familiarity with APQP standards.
4. Understanding of sensitive data environments.
5. Knowledge of European languages.
6. Minimum 5 years' experience in Configuration Management in a technical or data-centric environment.
