Job overview

We are looking for an experienced Band 6 Community Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join our Eating Disorders Outpatients and Day Service at Middle House, Maudsley Hospital.

The post holder will deliver high‑quality, recovery‑focused care to adults with eating disorders through assessment, care planning and delivery of evidence‑based interventions within a multidisciplinary team. A core element of the role is physical health monitoring, including interpreting observations, identifying medical risk and working closely with medical colleagues to ensure safe, coordinated care.

You will hold a small caseload, contribute to structured therapeutic groups, and provide clinical leadership to support continuity of care, reduce inpatient admissions and promote positive outcomes for service users.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide high‑quality, recovery‑focused nursing care to adults with eating disorders across outpatient, day service and ETT pathways. This includes mental and physical health assessment and monitoring, identification and escalation of medical risk, and close multidisciplinary working to ensure safe, coordinated care. The role involves managing a defined caseload, supporting care planning, review and discharge processes, and contributing to the delivery of structured therapeutic groups across patient pathways, with flexibility to provide cross‑cover and support across services as required. Full details of the role are outlined in the attached job description.

Working for our organisation

You will be joining a supportive, skilled multidisciplinary team within South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, committed to delivering high‑quality, compassionate and evidence‑based care. We value teamwork, professionalism and reflective practice, and support staff to work collaboratively across services while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety and recovery. Working for SLaM offers access to excellent learning and development opportunities, regular supervision, a commitment to staff wellbeing, and the benefits of working within a large, nationally recognised mental health trust.
