Overview
University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – Dietetic Assistant Practitioner. The closing date is 19 October 2025.
Main duties
The post holder will provide support to the dietitians in neurosciences (four days per week) and contribute one day per week to the ketogenic service, also based at NHNN. The role involves:
* Direct patient contact
* Liaising with dietitians and the wider multidisciplinary teams at NHN
* Supporting care pathways with other hospitals and in the community
* Facilitating inpatient treatment and safe discharge
* Managing stock of specialist nutrition products

Person Specification
Knowledge & Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE (e.g., Maths, English, Science, Food & Nutrition, or technology) or equivalent.
* Certificate/course in communication/counselling skills
* Knowledge of Nutrition and healthy eating
Experience
* Extensive experience of working in the NHS or customer focused environment
* Experience of giving presentations to groups of 10 or more people
* Experience of working with people from a diverse multicultural community
* Experience of working without direct supervision with the ability to make decisions about the management of the client
* Experience of participating in audit
Skills & Abilities
* Ability to communicate with a variety of different staff members and patients both verbally and in writing
* Ability to work in an organised manner
* Ability to work on own initiative
* Ability to prioritise and meet set deadlines
* Intermediate to advanced level of Microsoft Word with accurate typing skills
* Basic knowledge of MS Office
* Working knowledge of a databases
* To have an appreciation of the issues relating to communicating with patients i.e., with cancer or neurological conditions or terminally ill
* Ability to motivate patients
* Experience of training colleagues or patients
* Good understanding of the role of multi-disciplinary teams in healthcare and the dietitian's role in the team
