Job summary
This post is for a Specialty Doctor who will be responsible for providing clinical input to two of the working age adult wards in the purpose-built mental health unit at Farnham Road Hospital in Guildford, as part of the Acute Care Pathway.
There are other opportunities to take on additional responsibilities with remuneration including middle grade on-call rota subject to section 12 approval.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, formulation, & review of management plans for service users. Flexible review & reassess service users to assess their response to treatment & their readiness to access other parts of Acute Care Pathway.
It is expected that the Specialty Doctor would support any trainees attached to the team. All the work of the Specialty Doctor will be under the supervision of the consultant psychiatrist.
The Specialty Doctor will also be expected to show an interest in developing a wide range of psychiatric skills, including group work, maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of the latest psychotropic medication & a basic competency in neurology.
Attend Care Programme Approach & Section 117 meetings & mental health review tribunals.

* Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act(or within 6 to 12 months of the time of interview/assessment) or equivalent
