Overview

Job Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our Acute Inpatient Therapies Team at Kettering General Hospital. We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner. The post supports a 7-day service and applications are welcome for full-time or part-time hours. The post holder will work within a roaming therapy team providing expertise and assessment to the discharge hub, escalation areas and medically fit ward/areas with complex therapy needs impacting discharge.


Responsibilities

* Manage and prioritise your own caseload independently, assessing and treating patients with a wide variety of conditions.
* Assist in assessing and carrying out specific rehabilitation programmes for clients with more complex needs to improve their quality of life.
* Ability to work alone as well as within a team; maintain good written and verbal communication skills.
* Contribute to the roaming therapy team duties across discharge-related areas to support timely patient discharge.


About Us

If you are successful in your application, your commencement date will coincide with the Trust's induction programme held monthly. Attendance on the full induction programme is a mandatory requirement prior to starting in the work area.

* Pay: Band 4, £27,485 to £30,162 per annum pro rata
* Contract: Fixed term, 4 months; Working pattern: Full-time or Part-time

Qualifications

Essential

* Minimum NVQ level III or equivalent relevant to Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy

Desirable

* Associate member of the CSP or RCOT
* Foundation level degree or equivalent (relevant to Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy)
* Qualification in Anatomy & Physiology


Knowledge/Experience

Essential

* Good ward-based healthcare experience
* Experience working with a broad range of ages
* Competencies at Assistant or Assistant Practitioner level within Therapy or healthcare
* Working knowledge of Excel & Word
* Ability to work across a 7-day service
* In-depth understanding of the Therapy role within the In-Patient Team

Desirable

* Previous NHS experience
* Experience in community-based settings
* Manual handling experience
* Experience training/supervising other support staff
* Experience with health & safety checks and work processes
* Recent inpatient Therapy Assistant level experience
* Knowledge of local discharge pathways


Skills

Essential

* Motivational skills and ability to produce a therapeutic treatment plan for a limited field of conditions
* Strong communication, liaison, influencing and negotiation abilities
* Problem solving, ability to work independently, organise own workload
* Good observation, numeracy, confidentiality awareness, IT literacy
* Team player, flexible/adaptable, able to travel between venues, present a professional image, maintain professional standards under pressure

Desirable

* Understanding of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy roles
* Commitment to continuous education
