Mainresponsibilities: Interviewwitnessesandvictimsofcrime,assistinginregardtosuspectinterviews,takinghighquality,accuratestatementsforinclusionintocasefilesandundertakingassessmentoftheveracityofstatementsandthepotentialreliabilityofwitnessesinCourtinordertoensureevidenceiscorrectlycapturedandrecordedtosupportinvestigations. CoordinateandmanagetheseizureandviewingofCCTV,viewingmaterial,analysinginformation,andrecordingelementsincomprehensivereportsofevidentialandintelligencevalue;coordinatehousetohouseenquiriesinordertosupportinvestigationsandprovideevidenceinpersonatcourtasrequired. Undertakearangeofinvestigativeresearchthroughrelevantsystemsandprocedures,maintainingaccuraterecords,analysinginformation,andproducingarangeofreports,inordertosupporttheinvestigationofoffencesbythedepartment. Wherenecessary,supportandliaisewithvictimsandwitnessesofcrime,providinginformationandupdatesinrelationtocaseprogressandsignpostingthemtotheappropriateperson,inordertoensurethattheyreceiveappropriatesupportandalsotoassistinprogressinginvestigations. Assistinsearches,andactasexhibitsofficerwhenappointed,ensuringtheintegrityofevidenceretrieved,recordingreceiptofexhibits,organisingthestorageandappropriatesecurityofexhibits,includingthehandlingofhazardousmaterialsandreturningitemswhenauthorisedtodoso,inordertoensurethecontinuityofevidenceandthecorrectrecordingofphysicalevidenceandproperty. Submitcompleteandcorrectpaperworkobservingthehighestprofessionalstandards,withinsettimelimitsandensureevidentialintegritythroughthecollectionofallrelevantdocumentation,informationordatathatwillberequiredbytheofficerstoformanoverallpictureofthecircumstancesofthecase. Maintainanup-to-dateknowledgeofrelevantlegislationandforcepolicy,forexamplecriminallaw,PACE,CPIAandRIPA,inordertoensureinvestigationsanddocumentationisofthehigheststandardandcomplieswithsuchlegislationandpolicy. Ensuregoodcommunicationandsharingofinformationwithchildren'ssocialcare,toensurethatchildprotectioncaseconferencesareattended,jointinvestigativeandsafeguardingactionsarecompleted,and3rdpartymaterialisobtainedandviewed. Conductsafeguardingactionsasrequired,aspartoftheinvestigativeprocesstoensureriskspresentedtovictims,witnessesandsuspectsaremitigated. Necessaryexperience: ThepostholderwillalsoberequiredtocompleteaPersonalDevelopmentPortfolioevidencingtheircompetencyagainstthecriteriaoftheroleofanInvestigationSupportOfficer. Itisdesirablethatthepostholderwillhaverecentexperienceofsafeguardingvulnerablepersons,inordertoundertakesuchactionsduringtheinvestigativeprocess. Itisdesirablethatthepostholderwillhaverecentexperienceofcriminalinvestigations,conductinginterviewsandtakingstatementsininvestigativeprocess,withbothadultsandchildren. Thepostholdermusthaveahighdegreeofflexibilitytoaccommodateoperationalneeds,behighlymotivated,pro-activeandpossessexcellentcommunicationskillsinordertodealwithawiderangeofsituationsandpeoplethroughoutthespectrumofsociety,involvingofficers,membersofthepublicandotherorganisations. Thepostholdermustalsohavetheabilitytobuildandmaintainpositiveworkingrelationshipswithcolleaguesandstatutorypartners. Thepostholdermustbeabletoeffectivelyprioritisetheirworkloadandabletoworkwithoutclosesupervision,havetheabilitytoworkunderpressure,meetdeadlines,managesmultiplecustomerrequirementsandcasessimultaneously.Thereforeproficientorganisationalskillsareessential. ThepostholdermusthavegoodworkingknowledgeofITapplicationsandsystemswiththeabilitytouseMicrosoftOfficeproducts.
