Job Title: Wastewater Modeller

Location:Falmer – Hybrid working
Contract Type:Permanent
Hours:37 hours per week
Salary:Up to £50,000 depending on skills & experience

About the role:

Join us as a Wastewater Modeller and help shape the future of our wastewater networks.

You will sit within our Modelling team and play a vital role in understanding, predicting, and improving the performance of our wastewater systems. Your work will directly support planning, investment, and environmental protection across the region.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 3–5 years of modelling experience who wants to deepen their technical capability,andgain hands on project exposure.

What you will be responsible for:

1. Build, develop, and maintain hydraulic models of wastewater networks and treatment systems.

2. Analyse operational, GIS, and asset data to understand network behaviour and highlight risks.

3. Support planning, design, and regulatory programmes through evidence based modelling outputs.

4. Work with engineering, operations, and environmental teams to address flooding, pollution, infiltration, capacity constraints, and resilience issues.

5. Translate modelling outputs into clear, practical recommendations for technical and nontechnical audiences.

6. Contribute to continuous improvement in modelling processes, tools, and data quality.

Additional requirements specific to the role:

7. Occasional site visits for surveys, network investigations, or stakeholder meetings.

8. Hybrid working with some travel to team locations as required.

What you’ll bring to the role:

Essential

9. 3–5 years of experience in wastewatermodelling

10. Experience using hydraulic modelling tools such as InfoWorks ICM

11. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

12. Ability to interpret complex data and turn insights into actionable recommendations

13. A collaborative mindset and willingness to work across multidisciplinary teams

14. A relevant technical qualification (engineering, environmental science, geography, maths or similar)

15. Eitherrecently chartered orworking toward professional chartership

Desirable

16. Experience working with operational or regulatory wastewater programmes
17. Knowledge of wastewater network performance, risk assessment, or asset planning
18. Experience in the use of AI optimisation tools
19. Experience in writing scripts/codes to help with automation of parts of the modelling process

Progression opportunities

This role offers access to training, modelling tool development, internal mentoring, and future progression into Senior Modeller, Network Specialist, or broader Asset/Planning roles.
