Job Title: Freelance Intermediate / Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Swindon (Office-based)

We are working with a well-established civil engineering specialist who are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their commercial team. A strong civils background is essential, and experience in the water utilities sector is highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
* Take full commercial responsibility for allocated projects, including monthly cost reporting
* Manage and mentor junior members of the commercial team
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and the supply chain, including managing standard rate agreements
* Prepare and submit accurate valuations, supported by regular site visits
* Follow up on payments and keep senior management informed of any issues
* Price and agree project variations with clients and subcontractors, maintaining clear records
* Prepare contractual notices and administer subcontract conditions in line with company procedures
* Ensure timely and fair resolution of final accounts with clients and subcontractors
* Maintain well-organised commercial files (electronic and hard copy)
* Support pre-construction activities alongside the bid and contracts teams
Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in a civils environment
* Strong knowledge of commercial and contractual management principles
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills
* Experience in the water utilities sector is desirable
* Ability to manage multiple projects and mentor junior team members effectively
