We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our well-integrated team. The post is available from August 2026 for 12 months and is intended for anaesthetists with a strong interest in Simulation and Medical Education. The successful applicant will work closely with the Simulation team at St Richard’s Hospital under the supervision of the department and hospital Sim Leads. The fellow will be responsible, in conjunction with the Clinical Skills team for the provision of regular simulation sessions for Foundation doctors and medical students as well as MDT and In-situ sim projects. They will have one day a week dedicated to provision of simulation and education.
Main duties of the job
The duties will include pre, peri and post-operative management of surgical patients, assisting with care of the patients on the ICU, and provision of assistance with resuscitation calls.
The post holder will also be expected to participate in the on-call rotas on appointment. The department manages 3 tiers of cover – Theatres, Obstetrics and ITU. This rotation will expect the candidate to participate in the Theatre and ITU on call rotas. All rota’s are EWTD compliant in line with the 2016 Junior Doctor Contract and 2019 amendments to this contract.
The post holder will be expected to maintain a logbook and electronic record of learning experiences, including multisource feedback. It is expected that the post holder will register with the Royal College of Anaesthetists, and ideally use the electronic lifelong platform they offer. Educational Development Time will be provided in keeping with the guidance from the RCOA, so as to allow time for recording of such activities as well as participation in Quality improvement projects, research and clinical governance.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful candidate will work on our on-call rotas covering CEPOD, Intensive Care and Labour ward and there will be an opportunity to work in all areas of clinical anaesthesia during this post. It is preferable that applicants have the Primary FRCA already.
The duties of the post meet the requirements as detailed by the Royal College of Anaesthetists. The 2021 RCoA Anaesthetics curriculum will be followed. Experience & Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Basic medical degree
2. •Completed at least two years Foundation training at FY1 and FY2 level in a relevant training programme.
3. Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
4. Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent
5. 2 years' experience in anaesthetics including solo obstetric anaesthesia
6. Experience in Simulation
