The Role
We are seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Commissioning Engineer to carry out the commissioning of Life Safety, Fire Detection, Fire Suppression, Sprinkler, Security,
This is a hands-on, site-based role suited to an engineer with a strong fire alarm background who can work independently and as part of a wider commissioning team. You will ensure all systems are fully tested, integrated, and handed over in line with British, European, BAFE, BRE, NACOSS, and project-specific standards.
Due to compliance requirements, candidates must have a strong Fire Alarm commissioning background and relevant technical training.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Coordination
*
Support the development of commissioning plans and programmes for ELV and Life Safety systems (Fire Alarm, PAVA, CCTV, Access Control, Intruder, Disabled Refuge Systems, etc.).

Review designs, specifications, and scopes to identify commissioning requirements and potential issues.
*
Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and site teams to ensure commissioning readiness.
*
Attend commissioning meetings and provide progress updates.
Commissioning Execution
*
Carry out on-site commissioning in line with approved commissioning plans.
*
Program, configure, and integrate systems (e.g. Fire Alarm interfacing with Access Control, BMS, and Data systems).
*
Perform cause & effect testing and integrated systems testing.
*
Ensure all faults, snags, and commissioning issues are recorded, rectified, retested, and closed out.
*
Support FAT, SAT, and final system handover.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
*
Ensure works are completed in line with specifications and relevant standards (BS, EN, BAFE, BRE, NACOSS).
*
Assist with third-party inspections, testing, and approvals.
*
Complete QA documentation including test sheets, commissioning records, and reports.
*
Follow approved method statements and integrated test plans.
Documentation & Handover
*
Compile commissioning records, logs, and test results.
*
Assist with the production of as-built drawings and O&M manuals.
*
Support client demonstrations and handover.
*
Upload commissioning evidence to approved digital platforms (e.g. Dalux, BIM360, Cx Software, ATP).
Essential Requirements
*
Minimum 3+ years’ experience commissioning Fire Alarm and Life Safety systems on commercial or large-scale projects.

Intruder systemsGood working knowledge of British, European, BAFE, BRE, and NACOSS standards.CSCS Card (SMSTS desirable but not essential).Understanding of fire strategies, cause & effect, and integrated systems testing.Ability to work independently on site and as part of a wider project team.Strong communication and reporting skills.Good IT skills including Microsoft Office.Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
FIA / NACOSS Advanced Installer or Commissioner training.
First Aid certification.
