Location : Reading
Salary : £35,720 - £52,000 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

What will you be responsible for?
* Building services, mechanical, HVAC design engineering solutions which fully comply with all AWE and UK legal requirements together with AWE business case needs
* AWE have many facilities and infrastructures and it will be a benefit if you are familiar with some of the following Building Services HVAC designs, including: for office blocks, data centres, server rooms, restaurants, conference rooms, machine workshops, laser halls, stores, conventional, explosive or high hazard process facilities
* A detailed design knowledge or familiarity of any of the following: Building Services HVAC, vacuum, steam and pressure systems, LEV systems, or high hazard containment systems
* Your role will be to either to propose HVAC mechanical design solutions, or as part of the compliance group review other people’s HVAC mechanical design proposals.
* Agree with your Compliance Group colleagues the extent of processes required for the specification and verification of projects
* Identifying and agreeing with Task Managers and others as appropriate, Building Services mechanical design solutions
* Ensuring project personnel undertaking engineering design duties meet the requirement to be Suitably Qualified and Experienced Persons
* Contribute to integrated safety when reviewing engineering designs and ensure that all technical and design risks are identified and appropriately managed to meet project requirements and the letter and intent of the CDM Regulations, including discharging the designers role
What will you need to be considered?
* HVAC background with experience of designing complex HVAC systems in either conventional, hazardous or critical environments such as explosive atmospheres, close environmental control, c hemical atmospheres, c lean rooms and laboratories, n uclear, business critical etc
* Good technical and communication skills including problem solving and decision making
* Good oral, written and presentational skills with a particular aptitude for report, documentation and letter writing
* Familiarity with standard office software including word processors, spreadsheets, e-mail, presentations and databases, use of either Cymap (MEPworx) or HEVACOMP, or another suitable building services calculation design package
* Ideally ONC/HNC in engineering-related discipline or working to Chartered Membership of an engineering institution such as CIBSE
Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
