Job Description:

Our client is a well-known Scottish multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy with 3 offices across Scotland. Throughout their long history, they have remained at the forefront of multidisciplined engineering design for sectors including commercial, industrial, healthcare, sports, education, etc. Their team of almost 100 engineers covers Civil, Structural, and Building Services disciplines.

Currently, they are looking to bring an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to their growing Edinburgh team.


Your new role

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for all aspects of design and delivery of electrical services for a portfolio of projects. Your responsibilities include undertaking calculations, producing drawings, specifications, and reports, conducting site surveys, overseeing construction stage duties, liaising with clients, consulting with design/construction teams, and other duties as per project briefs. Producing and reviewing mechanical design drawings will be key. You should be able to manage your workload and that of others, updating plans regularly and working within time allocations.


Key responsibilities:

* Production and review of detailed design calculations for electrical design.
* Production of specifications and schedules.
* Creation of design notes, basis of design, and RIBA stage reports ensuring compliance with standards and best practices.
* Development of design drawings from conception to detailed design.
* Conducting site surveys and inspecting installations.
* Mentoring junior to intermediate engineers.


What you'll need to succeed

* Degree in electrical engineering or relevant subject.
* Chartered Engineer with CIBSE or IET, or working towards chartership.
* Strong background in Electrical Building Services Engineering Design.
* Proficiency with Trimble/Amtech, Dialux, and familiarity with BIM processes using Revit or other platforms.
* Experience in designing from first principles, HV, LV, lighting, lighting controls, fire alarms, security/access control, renewable energy systems, and earthing across projects.
