Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse - Children's and Young Person's Day Unit
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our paediatric team at Worthing Hospital. We are looking to appoint a forward-thinking and enthusiastic nurse to work in our Children's and Young Person's Day Unit (CYPDU). The successful candidate will work alongside the Children's ambulatory care manager to support the paediatric nursing team while maintaining responsibility for a safe and effective service.
We welcome applications from those who currently hold UK NMC registration. If you currently hold an overseas nursing qualification and require sponsorship we are not currently direct hiring Internationally Qualified Nurses. Before applying, if you currently work for another NHS Trust or UHSussex and you are applying to accept this position as a secondment, you must seek agreement and authorisation from your current Trust/Manager. Secondments can’t be agreed without this approval. If you are unable to gain approval you should refrain from applying unless you wish to take this role as a fixed term position.
* The post holder will be a proficient clinical practitioner who will be able to lead, influence and deliver effective care. They will take charge of CYPDU, caring for children and young people with nursing needs, and will have responsibility for ensuring care is coordinated and resources are used effectively.
* Ensuring the highest quality, effective and compassionate patient care is received by the child, young person and their families/carers whilst on the unit.
* Excellent, holistic and individualised nursing care will be delivered through assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating. This will be in line with local, Trust-wide and National policies, procedures, values and behaviours.
* Promoting a supportive learning environment in which to supervise and mentor student nurses, paediatric Nursery Nurses and Health Care Assistants.
* The post holder will act as an advocate while demonstrating effective communication and listening skills which are age-appropriate for the child and young person.
