Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our Chief Medical Officer team at the Royal United Hospital (RUH), Bath and help us make a positive difference for staff and patients.
Main duties of the job
This role is one of two Deputy Chief Medical Officer posts. The Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Strategy and Workforce provides leadership on the Clinical Strategy and all medical and dental workforce issues, through professional assurance, leadership development, workforce planning and productivity.
The role leads on medical workforce planning, including the development of electronic job planning, consultant induction and health inequalities; improves medical staff engagement across the Trust and contributes to medical leadership development programmes.
You will work alongside the Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Safety and Clinical Effectiveness who supports the Trust’s strategic goals, focusing on clinical outcomes, patient safety, standards, experience, efficiency and effectiveness.
The portfolio of these roles will align and engage medical staff in delivering efficient, high‑quality, safe and compassionate care to patients in all services.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Post graduate medical qualifications
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Qualification in management, leadership, or quality improvement
* Current GMC registration
Knowledge
* Demonstrable leadership experience
* Experience of developing leadership knowledge and skills in others
* Experience of service innovation and development
* Substantial clinical experience at consultant level
* Strong reputation as a clinician and clinical leader, with a proven track record of producing high quality results in the management and leadership of clinical services
Specific Skills
* Political awareness, with the ability to understand wider interest groups and stakeholders, and to work sensitively to overcome differing positions and interests
* A thorough grasp of the NHS, local and national health care strategies
* A proven ability to plan strategically
