Monitoring Officer (Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) and Section 106)
Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council is looking for a Monitoring Officer to join our Planning Policy team. The role focuses on ensuring the borough benefits from new development and managing the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) process to secure contributions that support local infrastructure.
About The Role
Your work will involve monitoring development activity, managing the CIL process and liaising with developers, stakeholders and internal teams.
* Administer the Council’s CIL system.
* Identify and monitor progress of new development, including site visits.
* Calculate CIL liability and issue invoices.
* Process payments and maintain accurate records.
* Respond to CIL‑related queries.
* Update land and building monitoring systems.
* Liaise with developers, stakeholders and internal teams such as finance and legal.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is customer‑focused, confident, proactive and has a can‑do attitude. Other desirable qualities include:
* Collaborative working style and effective communication.
* Organised and detail‑oriented.
Requirements:
* Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade A–C / 4–9) or equivalent.
* Ideally experience or knowledge of local authority planning services, particularly CIL and/or development monitoring.
* Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle; this is an essential car‑user role.
