All About The Role

We are seeking a Registration Support Officer to join the team at Peterborough Register Office. The role involves working four days a week: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

You will be the first point of contact at reception, assist with citizenship ceremonies, and work with archives to produce historical certificates. Additionally, you will be involved in ushering and registering marriages and civil partnerships, requiring confidence in front of an audience. The role also includes various administrative tasks supporting our services.


All About You

Excellent administration and interpersonal skills are essential. You should demonstrate calmness and tact, especially in emotional or confidential situations. The role requires working independently and as part of a team, with daily responsibilities varying.

This is a demanding position in a busy office environment. If you have the relevant experience and enthusiasm, we would love to hear from you.


Please Note

Regulation 5 of the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages Regulations 1968 (SI 1968/2049) disqualifies individuals who:

* are undischarged bankrupt or subject to certain debt restrictions;
* have been a member of a relevant council or committee in the past 12 months;
* are employed by a local authority in related duties;
* hold specific religious or professional offices that conflict with registration duties;
* are involved in burial, cremation, life insurance, or related businesses.
