Main duties of the job

Provision of specialist opinion
Participation in outpatient or virtual clinics or home visits
Participation in teaching and training
Regular audit, data collection and quality improvement work to ensureongoing improvements in the care of patients.
Maintain overview of all ward patients
Actively participating and facilitating discharges on the ward
Support and supervise junior doctors on the ward.
Contribute in the electronic and verbal handover of patients

Clinicalresponsibilities will include:

Thispost includes on-call responsibilities as part of a dedicated Elderly on-callrota together with the existing consultant workforce. Working arrangements currently consist ofthe following:
Scheduled evening duties 5pm 8pm Monday to Friday currently 2:20seeing older patients (> 80yrs or > 65yrs from Care Homes or patientswith frailty) admitted via the Acute Care of the Elderly Unit varies from oneor two patients to five/six patients.
On-call weekends currently 1:8 8-hour resident on call seeingapproximately 20-25 patients with the support of the registrar. 1 consultant oncall at Dewsbury and District hospital and 2 at Pinderfields General Hospital.
Supporting Professional Activities in accordance with the TrustFramework, with at least a minimum of1 SPAs included in the core 10PA timetable. Additional SPA or DCC time may becommissioned in line with the skills of the successful candidate and changingrequirements of the service.
Person Specification
Meet the entry criteria for the grade
* Shall have completed a minimum of 12 years medical work (either continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining a primary medical qualification of which a minimum of six years should have been in a relevant specialty in the Specialty Doctor and/or closed SAS grades. Equivalent years experience in a relevant specialty from other medical grades including from overseas will also be accepted.
Qualifications
* Medical Degree from recognised medical school
* MRCP or equivalent
* Prizes or Awards Achieved
* Audit or Case Presentations at a local, regional and national level
* Higher degree or qualifications such as a Masters
Professional Registration
* Please state full GMC number.
* Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council OR be eligible for the same and have this prior to commencement
