As Lead Pharmacist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing new medicines and guidelines across multiple specialties, alongside providing clinical expertise to patients requiring parenteral nutrition. Working closely with consultants, specialist nurses, dietitians and frontline healthcare professionals, you will drive excellence in medicines management, safety, and governance.

Main duties of the job
•Responsible for managing, delivering, planning and developing the clinical pharmacy services to the Surgical directorate cross site and patients who require parenteral nutrition (PN) Trust wide. The Surgical directorate includes Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU), Trauma and orthopaedics, general and elective surgery, Urology, Gynae and Plastics.
•To provide leadership and training of the team that delivers this service to ensure the service is provided to high standards.
•To manage medicine related risks and ensure Trust Medicines policy and medicines legislation is complied with within the surgical directorate and for patients with PN needs
•To provide a consistently high pharmacy service to patients in line with the Trust corporate objectives and the NHS plan.
•To support the Trust financial objectives by providing financial analysis and advice in relation to medicines management to the Surgical Directorate, PN service and the Pharmacy department.

Person specification
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential criteria
11. Master’s degree in Pharmacy (MPharm)
12. Registered Pharmacist: Member of GPhC
Desirable criteria
13. Post-graduate certificate in clinically-based pharmacy or equivalent
14. Demonstrate professional networking (e.g. member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society or UKCPA)
15. Registered Independent Pharmacist Prescriber
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
16. Significant experience of hospital pharmacy at Post Registration Pharmacist level
17. Significant experience of delivery of pharmacy services to a broad range of specialties
18. Experience of delivery of clinical pharmacy service to a specialist level
19. Experience of conducting service audits and the use of performance indicators
20. Experience of teaching and tutoring
Desirable criteria
21. Evidence of significant relevant Continuing Professional Development
22. Experience of project management
23. Experience of training other pharmacy staff
24. Experience in foundation pharmacist training
25. Experience of managing staff

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

35. Able to travel to other sites within the Trust and to venues for training
