iO Associates is partnering with a globally recognised insurance and risk advisory business seeking a Power Generation Risk Engineer to join its world-class team. This role is ideal for someone with deep experience in power plant operations or engineering who's ready to transition into a technical advisory position that blends site expertise, client interaction, and global exposure.
What You'll Be Doing:
*
Conduct detailed risk surveys at conventional and renewable power generation sites
*
Analyse operational risks, safety systems, and business interruption exposures
*
Deliver reports and risk prevention recommendations to clients and underwriters
*
Manage survey programs and act as technical liaison between field engineering and underwriting teams
*
Learn from real-world losses and apply root cause insights to prevent future incidents
What You'll Bring:
*
10+ years in power plant engineering, operations, or OEM manufacturing (boilers, turbines, transformers, etc.)
*
Strong knowledge of safety standards, ideally with NEBOSH and ISO familiarity
*
Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree (or equivalent)
*
Excellent communication skills to present technical risks and guide underwriters
*
Physically capable and willing to travel globally (up to 90 days/year)
*
Ability to interpret third-party technical data and apply engineering judgment
Desirable Experience:
*
Knowledge of gas turbines, thermal, nuclear, or renewable power stations
*
Experience in power generation construction/design projects
*
Prior work with insurance, loss adjusting, or technical risk analysis
*
Multilingual or experience working across global cultures
