Overview
Mains Water Engineer — Location: Edinburgh | Salary: £30,000 to £40,000 (DOE) | Hours: Monday to Friday with the occasional weekend with the option of overtime.
Water Mains Engineer Role
This is a customer-facing role where you'll be responsible for independently investigating and repairing external water supply issues, using a combination of technical knowledge, practical experience, and a safety-first customer focussed mindset.
Water Mains Engineer Responsibilities
* Independently investigating and repairing external water supplies to domestic and commercial properties.
* Accurately identifying leak locations and determining ownership and liability for repair works.
* Proficiency in using hand and power tools for excavation, pipefitting, and other tasks.
* Providing clear, reassuring communication to customers, explaining the work required and the process.
* Maintaining consistent and proactive communication with our Field Operations Team at HQ.
Required Experience and Skills
* Leak detection techniques, including use of listening sticks, ground microphones, or other acoustic equipment.
* Experience with find & fix water supply repairs.
* Familiarity with trenchless pipe installation (moling) - desirable but not essential.
* Ability to create new points of entry for water supplies into buildings.
* Skilled in using a CAT scanner to identify underground service pipes and cables.
* Proficiency in reinstating surfaces to a high standard, including paving slabs, block paving, cold lay tarmac, and concrete.
