SEN Casework Officer
Location: Halifax (Hybrid)

Hours: Full-time (37 hours)
Salary: £250 per day (Umbrella)
About the Role
The Annual Review Caseworker will support Calderdale Council in fulfilling its statutory duties under the Children and Families Act and associated SEND legislation. The role is primarily desk-based with hybrid working arrangements. The postholder will focus on annual reviews of Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans, ensuring they are updated and reflect the needs of children and young people with SEND.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with parents, schools, health and social care professionals to ensure EHC Plans are appropriate and up to date.
Interpret and action information from EHCP reviews, updating outcomes and provision.
Draft sections of EHC Plans using assessment data.
Support phase transfer processes (e.g., Nursery to Reception, Year 6 to Year 7).
Contribute to service monitoring and evaluation.
Participate in corporate projects and national/local initiatives.Experience & Knowledge
Demonstrable experience in a SEN-related role.
Knowledge of current SEND legislation and the Children and Families Act.
Experience working with families, children, and young people.
Familiarity with educational settings and multi-agency collaboration.Skills & Competencies
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other IT systems.Additional Requirements
GCSE Grade C / Level 2 or above in Maths and English (or equivalent experience).
Enhanced DBS check required.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
