A permanent opportunity has arisen to join the Cancer Performance and Information team at Neath Port Talbot Hospital. We are looking for a motivated, organised individual with an exceptional eye for detail.

The post holder will work closely other Cancer Trackers, Cancer MDT Coordinators; liaising with Administrative and Clerical Staff to progress pathways and ensure timeliness. To identify and highlight constraints to staff, including liaison with the departments involved in providing care and core services, ensuring that planned steps in the diagnostic pathway progress smoothly and in a timely manner with the overall purpose of ensuring timely diagnosis to assist with achieving Welsh Government cancer targets and positive patient outcomes and survival, escalating concerns to Service Management Teams as appropriate.

Main duties of the job

Manage and organise own workload to meet deadlines.

To ensure patients are not delayed to a cancer diagnosis, that suspected cancer patients are downgraded in a timely manner once the patient is deemed no longer suspicious of having cancer.

To recognise pathway issues, taking proactive steps to solve problems using own initiative, ensuring timely escalation to management teams in accordance with local policy when required, using persuasive skills with managers and clinicians, to ensure cancer targets are met.

Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria

1. Good standard of general education.
2. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience.
3. RSA Level 2 or equivalent experience.

Experience

Essential criteria

4. Administrative & clerical experience of working within the NHS.
5. Previous knowledge and experience of NHS patient administration and clinical systems, such as WPAS and Welsh Clinical Portal.
6. Able to work independently as well as part of a larger team.

Desirable criteria

7. Medical terminology knowledge.
8. ECDL.
9. Understanding of Suspected Cancer Pathway Guidance. Experience of using WPAS Cancer Tracker.

10. Proficient in the use of MS Office Applications, in particular, Excel, Work, Outlook, TEAMS and Internet.
11. Must be able to prioritise own workload.
12. Communicate effectively.
13. Motivated to use initiative.

Desirable criteria

14. Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh.
