We’re EE. We are the biggest mobile and broadband operator in the UK and we have a relationship in every second household in the country. But we’re for everyone, on any network – serving up new tech, new services, and heaps of inspiration for every aspect of your connected life.
We’ve been awarded the UK’s best network for the last 10 years. It’s central to our vision – to be the most personal customer-focused technology company in the UK.
That means earning a place on customers’ home screens by offering them more than ever before, whether that’s helping their home run smarter with EE Home, levelling up their play with EE Game, helping them work on their terms with EE Work, or even unleashing their kids’ learning with EE Learn.
We’re also part of BT Group, which we’re even bigger than you might think. Millions of people rely on us every day to help them live their lives, power their businesses, and keep their public services running. We connect friends to family, clients to colleagues, people to possibilities. We keep the wheels of business spinning, and the emergency services responding.
We think we’ve got something special here. We want everyone to feel proud about working at EE – and feel excited about where we’re going and what we’re going to do. Want to join in?
Why this job matters
As a Design Manager at BT/EE you will lead multidisciplinary design teams—product designers, content designers, content editors and design-system specialists—to deliver end-to-end digital experiences across mobile, web and app.
You’ll own design quality and standards, drive user-centred ways of working, and ensure every delivery considers full journey impact, accessibility and commercial/customer outcomes.
You will manage and develop a team (up to ~12 direct reports), coach and mentor designers, and build strong relationships with product, trading and commercial stakeholders.
You'll set design direction, own business outcomes, remove blockers, define prioritisations, facilitate discovery and co-design sessions and promote a world-class digital‑first experience that balances customer needs with business goals.
The team
You’ll join the Mobile/Product Design area as the Design Manager, leading a multi‑disciplinary group of product designers, content designers and design‑system specialists. You’ll line‑manage (up to ~12) designers embedded in optimisation squads and annual‑plan teams, owning the quality of end‑to‑end user flows across EE mobile, web and app journeys.
You’ll work closely with product, research, trading and commercial stakeholders to ensure design decisions meet customer needs and commercial goals. A core part of the role is coaching and developing talent, moving people between squads to broaden skills, and promoting user‑centred, world‑class digital‑first ways of working across the organisation.
What you’ll be doing
* Lead and manage a multi‑disciplinary design team (product and content designers) — up to 12 direct reports — overseeing delivery for mobile, web and app experiences across EE, Broadband and Plusnet, from annual plans through optimisation squads.
* Own and drive end‑to‑end user experience and design system standards: ensure world‑class, digital‑first journeys, assess how new features affect full user flows and set design quality bar.
* Translate commercial and customer priorities into design outcomes: prioritise work, define success metrics and ensure clear customer and commercial impact from design decisions.
* Partner with product, research, engineering and senior stakeholders: influence strategy, advocate user‑centred ways of working, remove blockers and ensure cross‑functional alignment.
* Develop talent and ways of working: coach and mentor designers, manage performance and career progression, reallocate resources across squads to grow capability and maintain high‑quality delivery.
Who we are looking for...

* Strong knowledge of and experience with design systems, interaction patterns and modern design tools (e.g. Figma).
* Solid understanding of user‑centred research methods and the ability to translate insights into product decisions.
* Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills — able to align design work with commercial goals and senior leaders.
* Experience managing multiple projects and squads in an agile delivery environment, prioritising work to maximise customer and business impact.
* Outstanding communication, coaching and feedback skills; ability to build a collaborative, inclusive team culture.
* Commercially minded, with a clear focus on measuring and demonstrating customer and business outcomes from design.
* Comfortable working at scale and adapting approaches to different product areas (e.g. app, web, optimisation).
