Senior Support Worker – Children’s Residential Home
Location: Worthing, West Sussex
Salary: £36,000 – £38,000 per annum
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Shifts: 07:30–15:00 or 14:00–22:00, including weekdays, weekends and some sleep-ins

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Support Worker to join our team in a nurturing and supportive children's residential home in Worthing.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about working with children and young people aged 8–17 who have experienced trauma, neglect, or abuse. The young people we support may present with complex emotional needs and challenging behaviours, and we are committed to providing them with a stable, therapeutic environment that promotes healing and positive development.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide high-quality, child-centred care in line with individual care plans

*

Support children in managing their emotions, behaviours, and relationships

*

Lead and supervise shifts, ensuring effective teamwork and communication

*

Mentor and support junior staff, promoting best practice and consistency

*

Maintain safeguarding standards and promote a safe, structured environment

*

Work collaboratively with families, schools, health professionals and social workers

Requirements:

*

Experience in a residential childcare setting, particularly with children who have experienced trauma or display challenging behaviours

*

NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards it

*

Strong leadership and communication skills

*

Ability to remain calm, resilient and compassionate under pressure

*

A commitment to trauma-informed, therapeutic care
