An exciting opportunity has arisen at St Peter's Hospital within our Paediatric Emergency Department for Healthcare Assistance to join our team. We care for children and Young People aged from 0-18 years admitted with a variety of medical, surgical and Mental Health conditions within a patient focused, friendly environment. We are looking for candidates who are able to work in a fast paced environment and wish to develop themselves further. You will be supported by the registered nurses, Unit manager and Matron within the department to provide excellent care. We would be very excited to welcome suitable candidates to this role. It involves providing care to children and Young people 24/7 365 days per year working on a shift basis.
Responsibilities
* Work as a Health Care Support Worker within the Paediatric department
* Provide direct patient care under the supervision and support of the registered nurses incorporating;
* Supporting patient with any personals cares i.e. toileting
* Supporting the patients nutrition and hydration
* Undertaking and recording of vital signs
* Performing point of care testing (e.g. urinalysis)
* Escorting patients to other departments in the hospital
* Maintaining Infection Prevention and Control
* Safeguarding Children and Adults
* Providing one to one supervision and support
* Provide support to the children, young people and their families in the department
* Ensure the environment is clean and tidy at all times.
* Stocking equipment to adequate levels
