Overview
We are looking for a CAD/CAM Programmer to report to the Machine Shop Supervisor. This permanent position requires programming 3‑ and 5‑axis CNC machines using HyperMill to produce components and tooling. The role works Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and offers up to £28 per hour for candidates with Hypermill experience.
Responsibilities
* Program 3‑axis vertical machining centres (VMC) and 4‑/5‑axis rotary table options.
* Program 5‑axis universal machining centres (UMC) for low‑volume production jobs.
* Program 3‑ and 5‑axis machines to run one‑off prototype parts for in‑house and custom customer requirements.
* Work with aluminium, steel, plastics, epoxy tool boards and carbon fibre materials.
* Draw fixtures for one‑off solutions and production runs using CAD skills.
* Collaborate with the shop floor team to streamline the machining process.
* Provide feedback to the design team on machining feasibility of complex components and tooling.
* Assist with in‑house training by training apprentices and other team members as required.
Qualifications
* Experience programming 3‑ and 5‑axis CNC machines.
* Proficiency with HyperMill, PowerMILL, MasterCAM, Fusion 360, or EdgeCAM.
* Strong CAD skills for fixture design.
* Knowledge of machining various materials such as aluminium, steel, plastics, epoxy tool boards and carbon fibre.
* Ability to train apprentices and support team learning.
* Completion of a 13‑week probation period by the employee.
