We are currently looking to recruit 3-4 Nursing students or Level 2/3 Health and Social Care qualified people who are keen to develop and work in a complex care environment supporting young adults. This opportunity will be working a mix of evenings and weekends supporting families with 2:1 care. These positions will give you the opportunity to gain valuable nurse led training to support:
Nursing training provided. PEG feeding (training and competency assessment) Dysphasia (training and competency assessment) Cough assist/VENT (training and competency assessment) Complex epilepsy/rescue medications (training and competency assessment) Specific clinical diagnosis training, for example recently trained staff around complex cerebral palsy for one customer need. Clinical medicines management and administration (training and competency assessment) Any other training based on clinical needs of a customer
The role of a complex care assistant would see you cover much of the following:
Medical Management:
This encompasses skills like tracheostomy care, ventilator management, catheter management, epilepsy care, and feeding tube management. Personal Care:
Assist with bathing, dressing, mobility, Personal hygiene and medication administration. Care Planning:
Be able to follow detailed care plans and adapt them as needed. Coordination of Care:
This involves working with family, doctors, nurses, therapists, and other caregivers to ensure comprehensive support. Emotional Support:
Provide emotional support to individuals and their families, helping them cope with complex conditions. Monitoring and Assessment:
Monitor a patient's condition, track changes, and report any issues to the healthcare team. Respiratory Care:
This includes airway management, suctioning, oxygen therapy, and managing ventilators. Nutrition and Hydration:
Maybe involved in managing feeding tubes, stomas, and other specialized nutritional needs. Bowel and Catheter Care:
May involve managing bowel programs, catheter care, and related procedures. Epilepsy Management:
This includes recognizing seizures, administering rescue medications, and managing the long-term impact of epilepsy. Wound Care:
Complex care assistants may be trained to manage different types of wounds, including pressure sores.
We are keen to speak with drivers who are happy to use a family, modified car. But driving is not essential.

KV have contracts with local authorities and private contracts for customers with personal budgets to provide specific home care services to people with mental health diagnosis, physical health conditions, learning disability and low or high level health care needs, to enable recovery and minimise hospital admissions and we wish to continue our excellent work, reputation and grow in other areas.
Requirements
It is essential you have very good written and spoken English and are educated to a minimum of Level 2 in Social Care or are pursuing a nursing or medical qualification in the UK. You will need to demonstrate having worked in social care or a hospital setting across numerous placements or paid employment for a minimum of 1 year in the UK. We will give preference to people that are from and understand the local community and care partnering frameworks.

Shift patterns are normally: Teatime (4pm) to (9/10pm) bedtime and then supporting families across 1 or both days of the weekend.
Pay is £13-£13.80 per hour. Reduced rates during training.
