We are seeking dedicated and compassionate LAC Tutors to provide one-to-one and small group tuition to Looked After Children across the Sunderland area. This role is ideal for teachers, tutors, or education professionals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of vulnerable young people and helping them reach their full academic potential. Key Responsibilities: Deliver personalised learning plans to LAC pupils in core subjects (primarily English and Maths, with potential for others depending on student needs). Foster a supportive and engaging learning environment tailored to the individual’s needs, learning styles, and emotional well-being. Work closely with local authorities, schools, social workers, and carers to monitor progress and adapt strategies. Maintain accurate records of sessions, attendance, and progress. Ensure safeguarding and confidentiality standards are upheld at all times. Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), teaching qualification, or substantial tutoring experience. Experience working with Looked After Children or young people with additional needs is highly desirable. Strong communication, empathy, and relationship-building skills. Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one). Ability to work flexibly – sessions may take place during or after school hours, in-person or online.
