The company An excellent public sector organisation is seeking a Litigation Lawyer, specialising in disrepair and involving environmental awareness, to join its legal function. The organisation manages a wide and diverse property portfolio and is recognised for its commitment to quality service, collaboration and supportive working culture. The role You will manage and progress a varied litigation caseload relating to residential housing matters. The role involves a particular emphasis on complex disrepair work, property condition issues, and related statutory claims. Key responsibilities include: Managing and progressing a full portfolio of housing‑related litigation cases Representing the organisation in court and tribunal hearings Advising operational teams on litigation strategy, legal risk, and case progression Preparing clear, thorough written advice, legal documents, and evidence packs Working closely with colleagues across operational services to ensure effective case management and compliance What you'll need to succeed Qualified solicitor or barrister, authorised to practise in England Demonstrable experience across a broad range of housing litigation matters, including: Anti‑social behaviour cases Possession proceedings Disrepair and property‑condition claims Leasehold and service‑charge disputes Debt‑related matters Advocacy experience in courts or tribunals Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly Excellent organisation and time‑management skills, with the ability to work to deadlines and performance targets Strong IT skills, including confident use of standard office software What you'll get in return Hybrid working with around three office days per week in London Supportive, purpose‑driven working culture Opportunities for ongoing professional growth within an experienced legal team Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
