Senior Director, AI Commercial Business Partner - Biopharmaceuticals Business Unit Europe & Canada

We are seeking a senior leader with an organizational mindset and a can‑do attitude to deliver positive outcomes on high impact and complex AI projects. The role will design and deliver value‑driven change across the organization, driving wide‑scale commercial innovation across teams and leading the AI revolution in commercial for AstraZeneca.
Responsibilities
* Own strategy and portfolio of new AI commercial programmes in partnership with business teams.
* Act as the single point of contact for AI commercial capabilities for the region, maintaining AI roadmaps aligned with business needs and developing business cases.
* Translate business needs into well‑defined AI use cases with clear metrics, aligning with AI priorities and the business strategy.
* Co‑lead solution delivery, overseeing lifecycle management including pilot shaping, deployment, adoption, and value realisation, ensuring appropriate evidence frameworks are applied.
* Lead change management and governance, embedding AI into operations, supporting AI literacy, and ensuring data governance and compliance with standards and regulations.
* Scan internal and external trends, partner with functional leaders, and keep the organization aware of industry, market, and innovation shifts to anticipate opportunities and risks.
* Define KPIs and monitoring mechanisms to evaluate progress and pivot when needed, ensuring each solution delivers measurable business impact.
* Serve as the primary interface between the business area and Enterprise AI teams (Customer and Patient Engagement, Commercial DS&A, AISI, AITC, AICA, AIEI, AITT, EDE) to clarify ownership, priorities and hand‑offs.
Essential For The Role
* Substantial proven experience leading transformation programmes in commercial pharma.
* Demonstrated commercial and scientific domain experience reflecting a deep understanding of the needs of the business function and the region.
* Strong analytical and communication skills at all levels of the organization and the ability to operate successfully in highly matrixed environments.
* Effective interpersonal and relationship management skills with a consultative approach and the ability to build trust.
* Operational effectiveness and a highly organized process with strong follow‑through.
* Strong initiative to understand core business goals and establish processes or programmes to set direction, generate alignment and drive forward.
* Financial background and understanding of forecasts, budgets, financial activities and tools.
* Resourceful, motivated, influential and proactive; able to prioritise in a fast‑growing organisation.
* Experience in strategic planning processes, tools and/or project management tools.
Desirable for the Role
* Graduate degree (MBA, Masters, MD or PhD preferred).
* Experience in leading and managing alliances or strategic partnerships.
* Experience in translating business needs into a coordinated business proposal and plan for cross‑functional senior leadership teams.
* Ability to develop creative and simple solutions to complex problems.
