SUMMARY

Reporting to the Operations Director, this role is responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight across multiple warehouse sites within the region. The role ensures efficient, safe, and cost-effective warehouse operations while driving service excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement. This includes accountability for inventory management, transportation, workforce performance, health & safety standards, and financial results. The position also plays a key role in aligning warehouse operations with the wider business strategy, strengthening client relationships, and fostering employee engagement that supports our Metro values and vision.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead team(s) to deliver and achieve agreed strategic operational and commercial goals.
* Provide the Metro Executive team with regular performance status and proposals for continuous improvements.
* In partnership with the Operations Director, Project Manager, HR and Finance team produce Business Operating Plans, with the requisite financial plans and budgets, in line with the understood business objectives, to drive costs down and improve the service.
* In partnership with the commercial team identify business opportunities with both existing customers and prospective new customers and prepare business proposals.
* Create appropriate customer solutions and own implementation of that new business, coordinating internal and external activities. Deliver the actions required to ensure a smooth onboarding process for the customer.
* Partner with the finance team to create the budget and forecast files in line with the agreed timescales for the operations you have responsibility for. All assumptions and KPIs should be clearly articulated and agreed.
* Ensure the budgetary controls are managed, take responsibility for ensuring the weekly P&L is in line with and planned to exceed budgetary expectations.
* Embed a high-performance team structure ensuring there is a progressive management and supervisory growth that provide operational excellence.
* Coach and develop reporting managers in people management activities and oversee the implementation of a people training/development plans to assist succession planning.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

* An established manager with strong commercial business acumen.
* Ability to demonstrate strong, inspirational and influential leadership.
* Strong stakeholder engagement and demonstrable collaborative behaviours and leading high-performing teams to success.
* Able to demonstrate efficient warehouse solution design skills and process improvements.
* A technical background with the ability to confidently present technical issues/solutions to customers.
* Extensive knowledge of warehouse and fleet management.
* Experience within the defence sector and production would be advantageous.
* NEBOSH or IOSH Health and Safety qualifications.
* Hold a valid UK driving license and able to travel regularly across UK sites.
