Water and Wastewater Engineer at Town of Ipswich
Town of Ipswich seeks qualified candidates for the exempt full-time position of Water & Wastewater Engineer for the Water & Wastewater Departments. Provides support for activities of the Water & Wastewater dept. including those related to operations and maintenance of the municipal water & wastewater facilities and infrastructure.
Responsibilities
* Performs detailed analysis of water and wastewater data, including operation and maintenance activities, system hydraulics and customer use data.
* Works with metering and billing system databases to extract trends and statistics to support design of rate structures, consumptions patterns across customer types.
* Prepares and reviews water and wastewater construction plans, technical and administrative reports, coordinating with engineers and technical consultants.
* Performs field inspections and maintains records for Department related construction activities.
* Provides project management assistance for municipal water and wastewater system upgrades as assigned by Water &Wastewater Operations Manager.
* Provides technical assistance to water and wastewater staff.
* Develops and reviews technical specifications and other related documents for public procurement related to water and wastewater projects and other purchases.Prepares technical documents for water and wastewater activities as necessary to comply with local, state and federal permit requirements (Wetlands Protection Act, Water Management Act, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System, etc.).
* Maintain and analyze water and wastewater GIS data layers.
Qualifications
* Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or similar Engineering; 5 years relevant experience, Municipal Water/Wastewater experience and water and wastewater treatment licensing a plus.
* Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of water treatment, distribution and conservation, wastewater treatment and collection.
* Proven track record in water and wastewater project management.
* Ability to manage project assignments under occasional time constraints; to analyze complex issues and develop relevant and realistic plans, programs and recommendations.
* Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; to interact effectively with a wide variety of individuals and officials.
* Ability to use and apply word processing, spreadsheets, GIS, hydraulic modeling and other applicable technology.
* Ability to work independently with little oversight.
* Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; to establish positive public relations for the Town, department and/or division; and to interact effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
