Contract: 6 months (high likelihood of extension)
Rate: £70–£80 per hour (DOE)
Start: ASAP
The Opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced Building Control Team Leader to play a key role in establishing and managing a new in-house statutory Building Control service for a West Sussex local authority.
This is a high-profile interim role where you’ll be shaping a service from the ground up, ensuring statutory compliance, and guiding a small, dedicated team through a critical period of change.
What You’ll Do
* Lead the establishment of a statutory Building Control service.
* Oversee data transfer and new operational processes.
* Manage inspections, notices, reversions & enforcement cases.
* Ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022.
* Act as the key contact for developers, residents & stakeholders.
* Provide leadership and mentoring to a small technical/admin team.
About You
* Registered Building Control Inspector (essential).
* Chartered with RICS, CABE, CIOB, or IFE.
* Competent to Class 2/4 or 3/4 under the BSR framework.
* Strong local authority building control experience.
* Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills.
