Job Description:
The role
Working as part of a small team, you’ll contribute to the development of the National CBRN Centre by designing, delivering, evaluating, and quality assuring training materials to maintain high standards.
You should have a CBRN responder background with a training qualification (minimum BTEC Level 3 or equivalent, e.g., Certificate of Education, PGCE, or a recognised training qualification such as Police Training Qualification).
You’ll be personable, flexible, approachable, and responsible for managing situations, leading by example, and demonstrating commitment and determination.
Responsibilities
* Maintain and develop multi-agency capability to respond to CBRN terrorism and support the vision and mission of the N CBRN C.
* Develop, deliver, evaluate, and quality assure training materials to promote individual learning.
* Ensure quality in training and development through cost-effective training aligned with the CBRN strategy.
* Make decisions within the classroom environment.
* Maintain high subject knowledge both in training and operational contexts.
* Build relationships with external agencies and suppliers.
* Participate in the 24/7 on-call Operations Centre Cadre.
Skills and Competencies
Minimum Level 3 training qualification or equivalent.
UK driving licence.
A1 or equivalent assessor award.
Experience in designing, developing, delivering, or managing emergency service training programs.
Experience working in multi-agency environments.
Understanding of current operational multi-agency CBRN issues.
Licensed Search Officer (LSO) or Police Licensed Search Advisor (PoLSA).
Tactical Advisor – CBRN, Public Order, or Firearms (qualification expected if not already held).
Additional information
This position is a 2-year secondment to West Midlands Police, hosting the NCBRNC, with a Central Service Allowance (CSA). Occasional unsocial hours, including weekends, overnight stays across the UK, and international travel may be required. Flexible working patterns may be considered. Applicants must confirm they have approval from their Chief Officer for secondments.
