We’re now looking for a reliable and caring Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Auburn Lodge, supporting up to 20 residents. You’ll play a vital role in preparing breakfast and lunch, maintaining a clean, safe kitchen, and helping make mealtimes a positive and inclusive part of the day.
About The Role
We are currently looking for a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our team. This part-time role involves preparing and serving breakfast and lunch for up to 20 residents, while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety. You’ll play a key part in ensuring that mealtimes are enjoyable and inclusive.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and serve breakfast and a midday meal for up to 20 residents
* Support residents in choosing from the daily menu and encourage independence
* Follow dietary requirements, care plans, and individual needs
* Maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen and adhere to food safety and COSHH regulations
* Keep accurate records and report any issues or incidents
* Work closely with the care team to support a positive mealtime experience
* Attend training, staff meetings, and supervision sessions
Shift Pattern:
* 13 hours per week on a two-week rolling rota:
o Week 1: Thursday & Friday, 7:30am – 2:00pm
o Week 2: Saturday & Sunday, 7:30am – 2:00pm
* Overtime opportunities available
About You:
* Experience preparing meals for groups (e.g., in care homes, schools, or similar settings)
* Food hygiene certificate (Level 2 preferred – training can be provided)
* Awareness of COSHH and food safety standards
* Able to work with a respectful and inclusive approach
* Reliable and flexible, with a commitment to high-quality service
* Willing to participate in ongoing training and development
