We are looking for a motivated Hard Services Apprentice to join our team and support the maintenance and repair of the physical infrastructure across our print site, in Knowsley.
This apprenticeship will provide you with hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building maintenance systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), lighting, pumps, and water management. You’ll learn from experienced engineers and gain essential skills while completing relevant academic coursework.
About the role:
As a Hard Services Apprentice, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining and repairing the physical infrastructure of our print sites. This includes working on mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, and building fabric. You’ll gain hands-on experience in:
* Maintaining and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), lighting, pumps, and water management systems.
* Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance activities.
* Diagnosing faults and implementing effective solutions.
* Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
* Utilising tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
You’ll receive on-the-job training under the guidance of experienced technicians, complemented by academic coursework at Salford City College.

Training and Qualifications
Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll work towards the Level 3 Building Services Engineering Service and Maintenance Engineer qualification. Your training will cover:
* Safe working practices and risk assessments.
* Sustainable principles and environmental regulations.
* Planning and organising maintenance tasks.
* Testing, commissioning, and decommissioning building services systems.
* Fault diagnosis and component replacement.
This comprehensive training will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the building services industry.

* Technical Ability: A strong interest in how mechanical and electrical systems work.
* Computer Literate: Comfortable using IT systems and control panels, including Building Management Systems.
* Hands-On: A practical learner, excited to gain experience under the guidance of site engineers.
