Location and Salary
Location: Dumfries & Galloway (East Area) with travel across the region. Salary range: £38,950 - £44,200 Full‑time Equivalent (FTE) plus competitive benefits package. Additional payments include on‑call (£175 per week) and call‑out rates at 1.5× hourly rate. Hourly rate ranges from £22.03 to £25.00. Hours: 34 hours per week, worked over four days between 8 am and 5 pm, with a rota that allows long‑weekend downtime every five weeks.
The Role
You’ll be joining a team of skilled operatives, working both independently and as part of a team, carrying out reactive and void works. Tasks include gas boiler replacements and other multi‑skilled duties such as basic joinery, minor plastering repairs, and decoration. You will deliver a responsive, “right first time” approach and provide excellent customer service. The role is agile, requires travel across Dumfries & Galloway, and reports to the In‑House Repairs Team Manager. This post will be based within the East team covering DG1,2,7,10,11,12,13,14,16 and may occasionally cover other areas.
Qualifications and Requirements
You must hold a full, valid driving licence. Loreburn will provide a fully stocked van, power tools, PPE and mobile technology to carry out the role.
The Ideal Candidate Will
* Have relevant experience and qualifications, e.g. Time Served Plumber, City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3, CCN1 Core Domestic Gas Safety‑NG, CENWAT Central Heating Boilers & water heaters and experience in renewing gas boilers.
* Hold a full valid driving licence.
* Demonstrate the ability to develop new skills.
* Be able to provide support and guidance to any apprentices.
* Be willing to participate in the on‑call rota.
* Be able to work under pressure, organising and prioritising to deliver outputs and meet deadlines.
* Have working knowledge of Health & Safety and risk management.
* Be flexible in approach to ensure jobs are completed.
* Work independently while also being a great team player.
* Have a basic understanding of IT (use of apps, email, etc.) and be willing to learn our systems.
* Be proactive and work using your own initiative.
* Hold a commercial driving ticket (desirable).
