About the Business Agility Team
The Business Agility team’s mission is to enable Technology & Online to win together by building adaptable capabilities, demonstrating agility behaviors, implementing effective ways of working, and driving continuous excellence. The team includes three capabilities: Agility Coaching, Product Ops, and UX Design & Research Ops, sitting within the Product function in Technology.
As a key member, the Lead Business Agility Coach leads a team of Senior Business Agility Coaches and Business Agility Coaches to design and implement strategic initiatives focused on creating adaptable capabilities, agility behaviors, and effective ways of working. These initiatives target complex problem areas across various verticals or departments, requiring strategic thinking, quick assessment, relevant data gathering, and meaningful change implementation, guiding stakeholders through the journey. The role involves leveraging Agile, Lean, and other practices, collaborating with the Head of Business Agility and other coaches to co-create and deploy Tesco's Agile ways of working.
The Lead Business Agility Coach also has line management responsibilities, including recruiting, mentoring, and supporting career progression of team members.
* Develop and execute the annual strategy for Agility Coaching capability in collaboration with Senior Business Agility Coaches and Business Agility Coaches.
* Define, implement, and refine the team operating model and structure to meet organizational needs.
* Recruit and build a high-performing team of Senior Business Agility Coaches and Business Agility Coaches.
* Analyze organizational context to tailor impactful changes and solutions.
* Identify and prioritize problem areas based on insights, business priorities, and strategy.
* Define and recommend solutions aligned with industry best practices and Tesco's context.
* Lead and deliver change initiatives tailored to context and impact scale.
* Design and deliver targeted learning experiences for diverse audiences.
* Facilitate workshops and events to promote collaboration and engagement.
* Coach leaders and senior leaders on adopting the Business Agility mindset and practices.
As a practitioner, the skills expected include:
* Deep expertise in Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, Lean) both theoretically and practically.
* Ability to influence and lead change at all organizational levels, with strategic insight.
* Exceptional facilitation, coaching, and mentoring skills, especially with high-performing teams and leadership.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaborative skills.
* Experience managing large-scale organizational change initiatives.
* Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
* Flexibility and adaptability to meet varying organizational needs.
* Proficiency in metrics and data to inform decisions and assess performance.
* Ability to engage with senior stakeholders for alignment and support.
* Proven capacity to mentor and develop coaches and future leaders.
You should have demonstrated experience of:
* 8+ years in Agile coaching or related roles, with a proven leadership record.
* Experience driving organization-wide change, managing resistance, and fostering continuous improvement.
* Ability to utilize metrics and data for performance assessment and strategic guidance.
* Experience facilitating conflict resolution and collaborative problem-solving.
* Familiarity with Agile tools like Jira, Trello, and collaboration platforms like Confluence, Miro.
* Relevant Agile certifications such as Certified Scrum Master, ICAgile Agile Coaching, Kanban Foundation, etc.
