This post is being advertised as a Band 3, however applicants that do not meet the required care certificate competencies will initially be employed as a Band 2. Applicants who hold a care certificate accreditation will start in post at Band 3. Our HCSWs are invaluable to the trust and play an integral role in the wards and departmental teams. The role of a HCSW can be challenging but overall rewarding. Working alongside likeminded people, our teams are caring, compassionate and inclusive. We believe in “growing our own” and support progression pathways to staff nurse training applications.
Please note we cannot offer sponsorship for this role and we cannot offer online interviews as a face to face numeracy and literacy assessment are required.

Currently there are full time and part time hours on offer. We are open 24 hours a day 7 days a week - therefore, we require everyone to be fully flexible across all shift patterns, including weekdays, weekends, nights and bank holidays.
To work as an effective member of the team under the supervision and direction of a registered health care professional, providing dignified, compassionate and safe care for patients and ensuring high standards of documentation are maintained.
To undertake all duties listed however these duties will vary from speciality to speciality in some cases this could include working with children and young people right through to older people. No duties should be undertaken unless appropriate training or induction has taken place in accordance with trust policies.
As part of the selection process you will be required to complete a numeracy and literacy assessment alongside an interview.

PLEASE NOTE: Most wards are due to relocate to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital in Spring 2026 - see below for more details. Our values define who we are as #TeamUHD. There is a planned move for this service anticipated during Spring 2026, when this role and base of work will relocate to Royal Bournemouth Hospital. Upon relocation of the role/service, excess mileage allowance / reimbursement will not apply, and any travel between the post holders home and work base will be classified as a commute. Any other changes unrelated to this, will be handled in line with Trust/National terms and conditions.
