We're looking for a Stock Condition Surveyor to join our team in Newton Abbot to undertake stock condition surveys of Teign Housing's 4000 owned and managed properties around Newton Abbot, Teignmouth and Cullompton.
Reporting to our Senior Building Surveyor, you'll ensure that information relating to stock condition, age, repairs and remaining life span of building components is collected and accurately recorded to inform future plans of work, and you'll draft your findings into structured reports that offer conclusions and recommendations. You'll be responsible for updating and maintaining our systems to ensure compliance with Building Regulations, Housing Standards and all associated legislation.

Salary: £38,500 (plus car allowance of £6,700)

The Stock Condition Surveyor Role
* To focus on carrying out stock condition surveys of Teign Housing's owned and managed facilities, ensuring that information is collected and accurately recorded in regard to stock condition, age, repairs and remaining life span of building components to inform future plans of work.
* To survey a variety of assets, including homes, blocks and sub-blocks, garages, commercial units and community centres, ensuring that findings and information are drafted into structured reports that offer conclusions and recommendations.
* To provide professional and appropriate property surveys, ensure the company is compliant with Building Regulations, Housing Standards and all associated legislation related to the surveying discipline.
* Assist in assessing properties using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System to ensure category 1 Hazards are reported, working alongside all relevant legislation and keeping informed on updates.
* If necessary, raise tenders for work and assist in providing all necessary CDM and building regulations/planning information prior to work being commenced.
* Provide weekly and monthly reports to the Senior Building Surveyor, Commercial Manager and Director of Operations when necessary
* To comply with all HSE legislation and regulations associated with the role.
What will you bring as a Stock Condition Surveyor?
* Be in possession of, or be willing to work towards, NVQ level 4 HNC or HND in Building surveying or a suitable equivalent construction related subject, with relevant experience
* Ability to produce technical reports, effective verbal and written communication skills, the ability to assist in carrying out site surveys and Estate inspections.
* Experience gained from the Construction industry with a construction trade background or surveying background in construction, building pathology or condition reports.
* Ability to use MS Office applications
* Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
* Customer focused, you'll use your judgement and decision-making skills to deliver results in an ethical, resourceful & respectful way.
