It is an extremely busy time in Thanet’s housing at present with the cost of living affecting our district. The Council is looking for someone to be part of the homeless team to help our homeless households on their approach to Thanet District Council as homeless and providing support for these households. The Council is seeking an enthusiastic Homeless Officer to cover maternity leave, delivering housing and homelessness advice in accordance with homelessness legislation. The post holder will play an important role supporting households under the Relief Duty. The role will be focused on supporting homeless households within the district in search to find alternative accommodation, or making a homeless decision depending on the success through the Relief Duty, based on facts of their case. Homeless Officer - Tasks will include Effectively assisting households in finding alternative accommodation in line with the Homelessness Legislation. Dealing with Homeless Households in extremely vulnerable situations Managing difficult conversations and expectations Liaising with various professional agencies, including the Police and Social Services Homeless Officer - Essential requirements Good communication skills Part of the Out of Hours Service and Emergency Plan. Organisation in managing large caseloads Letter writing Knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act. Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check as part of their pre-employment checks.
